II GENERAL RULES

1.Admissions and Withdrawals
  • Students are ordinarily admitted to this school at the beginning of the academic year, which begins in June.
  • New admissions are subject to vacancies and regulated by the policy of the management.
  • If the student comes from another Board, then the Leaving Certificate should be countersigned by the Education Inspector of the District/State.
  • One month's notice is to be given before the withdrawal of a student, or the fees for that month will be charged.
  • Students who leave the school in April must also pay the fees for May.
  • The Leaving Certificate will not be issued unless:

                             *The parent fills the application form for the Leaving Certificate.

                              *All dues have been cleared.

                              *All library books and other school materials have been returned.

  • Leaving Certificate will be issued within seven days from the date of application.
 
2.School Handbook:
  • Every student must have a copy of the school handbook which must be preserved carefully and brought to school daily, failing which the student will be withheld from attending class and parents will be summoned immediately.
  • Loss/damage of the handbook must be reported within 24 hours. An application for a duplicate handbook must be made within three days.
  • Students should get specimen signatures of the parents/gaurdians and also obtain their signatures as and when required on the various pages of the handbook, failing which the student will be withheld from attending class and parents will be summoned immediately.

  • All students must come to school in proper uniform. Parents of students of Std I to VII who wish to wear trousers throughout the year are required to obtain written permission of the Principal.
  • Uniforms should be clean and neat.
  • Sikh students will wear black/ white turbans.
  • The house T-shirts must be worn on Mass Drill days and for inter-house activities.
          Hairstyle:
  • Boys will trim their hair short.
  • Girls will have their hair tied with a plain black band.
  • Colouring of hair, fashion/fads are strictly disallowed.

 

  • Symbols of religious significance, such as henna, mehendi etc. may be allowed with written permission only.
  • Colouring of fingernails and tatoos are not permitted.
  • The identity card must be brought to school daily.
  • Defaulters will be withheld from attending class and parents will be summoned immediately.

4. School Fees

  • The school has two terms
          First term fees: June
          Second term fees: November
  • Fees are to be paid from 11th to 22nd of each month, at the school fee counter. (Timing Mon to Fri – 07.45am to 10.45 am, Sat- 7.45 am to 9.45am). The fee counter will be closed while the school prayer is in progress.
  • Fee defaulters will be fined @ Rs. 50/- per month.
  • Fee Defaulters are not eligible to appear for examinations.
  • Monthly tuition fees for the months of November and May must be paid in advance in October and April respectively
  • No reduction in fees will be made for days of absence.
  • Certificates other than the Leaving Certificate - such as duplicate certificates, transcripts, bonafide certificates  and fee/marks statement -may be charged an appropriate fee.

5.School Hours

  • School hours are from 7:45 am. to 1:30 pm. With a recess of twenty minutes.
         KG – 12 noon to 3:30 pm. (From Monday to Friday).
         Students of Std. I and II will report to school at 7:45 am and leave at 11:40 am.
         On Saturdays and on last working day of each month, school will close at 11:00 am.
  • The first bell will ring at 7:45 am and the second bell will ring at 7:50 am. The school gates will be closed at 7:50 am and will be reopened only after the prayers before class are completed. Students who come after the second bell are considered to be late. Parents of late comers will be summoned to meet the Principal and corrective measures will be taken.
  • The third bell at 7:55 am is the bell for prayer to begin. At this bell, there must be absolute silence. Students are expected to be present either in their respective classrooms or in line for assembly. Prayer must be recited with reverence and devotion.
  • No student will be allowed to leave the school premises during school hours without explicit permission of the Principal.

6.Attendance and Leave of Absence

  • Absence or Leave during school days is not encouraged. If, under exceptional circumstances, a student requires leave for more than three days, the parents should come and discuss the matter with the Principal and Leave Record must be duly filled.
  • If a student owing to unavoidable reasons and no written permission has been obtained, a short written justification is to be brought in the Absence Record. The school disclaims all responsibility, if through failure to produce this, a student is obliged to return home during school hours.
  • A student who has remained absent from school for three or more consecutive school days without prior permission shall not be admitted into class without the written permission of the Principal.
  • Students must be present on the first day that school reopens. In exceptional circumstances, the Principal must be notified in time through a written application. In case of illness, a Doctor's certificate is to be produced.
  • If a student has been absent on the reopening day, the parent should meet the Principal along with the student before the student enters the school.
  • The school observes all public holidays declared by the State Government. Sectional holidays will be granted if applied for in writing.
  • Study leave is not an accepted practice in the school.
  • Students suffering from contagious or infectious diseases will not be permitted to attend school.
  • Attestation of documents/true copy, issue of bonafide certificates, Letters of Recommendation, transcripts etc will be processed 3 days after the submission of application. Stationary charges are applicable.

7.General Discipline

  • During class hours, absolute silence must be maintained along the corridors by all.
  • Running , playing or shouting inside the school building is strictly prohibited.
  • It is necessary to observe perfect order and silence when changing classes for languages and other subjects and also while moving along the corridors to the exits at the end of the school.
  • In the absence of the teacher in the classroom silence is to be maintained. Students should remain seated in their respective places and utilise the time for self-study. The class monitors will take charge of discipline.

8.Co-curricular Activities

  • All activities of the school are conducted through the House System. Students are divided into four houses, viz., Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. Each house has its own Captain and Vice Captain elected among the students.
  • The House System encourages an atmosphere of healthy competition and promotes excellence in all spheres while creating a spirit of togetherness and instilling values of discipline and order.
  • Students are expected to take part in all the co-curricular activities of the school, as part of their social and cultural training. No one will be excused, except for grave reasons.
  • No students will be exempted from physical exercise and games without an application from parents and a doctor's certificate.
  • Deserving students will be selected by the school to participate in inter school competitions at different levels, and will be marked present in the class attendance register. Students wanting to participate in events on their own may do so by getting prior, written permission from the Principal. They will, however, be marked absent

9.Library

  • Perfect silence and order must be maintained in the Library.
  • Students are allowed to bring any book or material to the Library, except a small notebook and a pen/pencil.
  • Books are issued only to the staff and students of the school.
  • In the choice of books, students should avail themselves of the guidance of their teacher or the Librarian.
  • Only one book will be issued at a time and on appointed days.
  • Students are advised to carefully examine each book before taking it out of the Library. They must report to the Librarian if they find the book damaged, otherwise they shall be held responsible for the damage.
  • Students shall handle library books carefully. Any damage or loss have to be made good.
  • A book may not be kept with a student without the permission of the librarian for more than a week, otherwise a fine of Rs. 5/- will be charged for every extra day.
  • A book may be issued for a further period of another week, if there is no demand for it.
  • Reference books are not to be taken out of the library without the written permission of the Principal.
  • Students shall fill in the details of each book read on the page reserved for this purpose in the handbook.
  • Students shall return all library books a week before the examinations, failing which they will not be allowed to sit for the examinations.

10. Science Laboratories

  • Silence and order should be maintained in the laboratories to acquire the scientific spirit of observation, enquiry and hard-work.
  • Students shall wear a lab-coat while working in the laboratory.
  • No student will be allowed to perform the science practical without attending the theory classes of that subject or completing the journals. Experiments will not be repeated for those who are absent for whatever reason.
  • Journals are to be certified before the Prelims.
  • Wastage/damage of materials will be charged a fine.

11.Examinations

  • Std III to X: Two examinations are conducted during the academic year. Semester I and Semester II. During the course of the year there are four formative assessments which are conducted. FA I and FA II during Semester I, and FA III and FA IV during Semester II.
  • The General Stream: There are three examinations - 1st Term, 2nd Term and the annual Examination.
  • HSC Science stream has four board Semester examinations.
  • No text books, note books, files or other papers are to be taken into the Eamination Hall. Cheating or use of unfair means will be dealt severely.
  • Answer papers of the Annual Examination will not be shown.
  • Remedial classes are compulsory for students who need improvement.
  • The syllabus of all subjects for each terminal examination will be given to the students at the beginning of the new scholastic year.

12.Conduct

  • Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience or conduct injurious to the moral tone of the school may invite disciplinary action.
  • Students are responsible to the school authorities not only for their conduct in the school, but also for their general behaviour outside the school.
  • Any reported or observed objectionable conduct on the part of the students even out of the school shall make them liable for disciplinary action.
  • Politeness and courtesy in speech and conduct as well as cleanliness of dress and person are expected from every student as a matter of course. Any type of discourtesy and disrespect to members of the school staff will be dealt with severely.
  • Students are forbidden to take part in any political or other activity that may lead to violence or communal disturbances.
  • It is forbidden to write or scribble on the walls or throw paper, ink or chalk in the school premises. Any kind of damage done to school property will have to be made good. The decision of the Principal in this matter is final.
  • Electronic gadgets such as mobile phone, camera etc are strictly forbidden in the school. These will be confiscated and returned after seven days on paying a fine of Rs. 500/-. Novels, periodicals, newspapers, etc., should not be brought into the school without the written permission of the Principal.
  • Letters received in the school addressed to students will not be delivered.
  • No collection of any kind or for any purpose whatsoever is to be started without the prior, written permission of the Principal and all accounts of the same must be properly maintained and handed over to the Principal.
  • During recess, no student is to remain in the classroom. Students are responsible for the safe custody of their books and belongings. It is not advisable for the students to have money or valuables with them. Although adequate care will be taken of students' property, the school will not be responsible for any loss or theft of the same.
  • Gathering of signatures or similar demonstrations to bring pressure on the school authorities is strictly prohibited. Previous sanction of the Principal is needed for any organised activity.
  • Students are expected to speak in English at all times on the school premises. Stern punitive action will be taken against those failing to do so.
  • No student is allowed to come to school on a two-wheeler or four-wheeler without a valid driving licence. School authorities are not responsible for any related issues.
  • Parking of bicycles are permitted within the school premises at allotted areas during school hours only at owner's risk.

III. RECOMMENDATIONS TO PARENTS

  • Parents and Guardians are earnestly requested to co-operate with the school in enforcing regularity and discipline, seeing that their wards attend school regularly and punctually, wear the prescribed uniform, prepare their lessons and take an active interest in the activities of the school.
  • Children should be picked up from the school within 15 minutes after school hours. The school authorities will not be responsible for the students staying on later than the given time, unless kept back by the teachers for school activities.
  • It is the responsibility of the parents to make conveyance arrangements for their children. School authorities are not responsible for any problem arising in this matter.
  • Absence or Leave during school days is not encouraged. If under exceptional circumstances, a student requires leave for more than three days, the parents should come and discuss the matter with the Principal.
  • If a student is absent through illness or otherwise for three days or more, the Principal must be informed.
  • Students should be trained to develop self-reliance through personal study habits. Hence, the engagement of private tuitions may prove detrimental to the genuine progress of the student and should not be encouraged.
  • Remedial teaching for weak students will be arranged by the school. In case your child requires special attention, please approach the teacher concerned with the consent of the Principal.
  • Students are encouraged to develop a habit of self-study. The duration varies as per the standard in which the student is studying.
  • No student will engage the staff of this school in private tuitions.
  • Students are to give priority to practices and rehearsals for school programmes, sports coaching, and other such activities organised before and after school hours over any other personal and private activities
  • Parents and Guardians are immediately requested to notify the school of any change in their address or telephone numbers.
  • During school hours parents are not allowed to meet either students or teachers.
  • Parents and guardians (Std. III to XII), inorder to collect feedback of their child/ward, must meet the teachers on 2nd/3rd Saturday with prior appointment (between 11:00am to 12:00 pm). Parents of the Playway Section may meet the teachers at the assigned date/time.
  • In case of problems related to studies, behaviour, uniform, attendance and punctuality, the Principal or the concerned teacher may call the parents.
  • To celebrate the birthday of your child, instead of giving expensive individual gifts to classmates, you are exhorted to present educational aids or games articles to the Principal/Class Teacher for the use of the whole class.
  • Vehicular parking is not allowed inside the school compound. Refrain from parking five meters from the school gate.
  • Parents' meetings held in the school have a specific and important purpose of consulting parents of their opinion on school matters, discussing school related issues and informing about the management decisions. Hence, it is absolutely compulsory for parents to attend these meetings as and when they are held.

IV.MEDICAL CONSIDERATION.

  • Students who are un-well during school hours will be sent home  accompanied by a parent/guardian.  
  • In cases of medical emergencies the services of the following team of doctors will be available:             

                        -   Dr. Madhu Bhaskar M.D. (Physician)

                        -  Dr. Bhaskar Iyer M.S. (General Surgeon)

                        -  Dr. Umang Gandhi  M.S.

  •   Parents will pay the medical charges applicable. 

V. CANTEEN POLICY

Rationale
A balanced diet is necessary for the students to be fit and healthy. Nutrition is an important consideration for their over-all growth. Hence, certain guidelines are laid down with respect to tiffins provided by parents and the school canteen.
Guidelines:
  • Only nutritious and healthy food and drinks are permitted.
  • 'Junk Food' containing little or no proteins, vitamins or minerals, but which are rich in salt, sugar, fats and are high in calories are totally banned. Examples of junk food are: chips, fried packaged foods, deep fried foods, carbonated beverages, sugar sweetened non-carbonated beverages, instant noodles, potato fries, burgers, confectionery items such as chocolates, candies and gums.
  • Hygienic conditions are to be maintained with regard to food preparation, storage and packaging.
  • Environmental norms are to be strictly observed such as a complete ban on the use of plastic or Styrofoam (thermocol) cups, plates, etc. Proper waste segregation and disposal systems are to be followed.
  • Only healthy and hygienic food is allowed like: Upma, Bhel, Bataka-Poha, Sev-Usal, Sandwich, Masala Puri & Pickle, Idada, Dhokala, Aloo Pratha, Puri-Sabji, Buttermilk, Masala Khichdi, Idli Sambhar, Aloo Sabji  (dry), Vada Sambhar, Pav Bhaji.

Monitoring:

A committee consisting of two staff members , two parents & student leaders  is responsible for its implementation and reguar monitoring . They will periodically report to the Principal.
